Some times a person doesnot want to get all 5000 (or 100,000) profiles in a download.

If a person only wanted the closest 200 blood relatives (or ancestors etc) it wold be nice if the max number was 5000 (or 100,000) but have the choise of how many profiles the person wanted.

Say a pro only wanted 50,000 names because his program runs out of memory at 100,000. When he checked "Blood" he could type in a number 50 to 100,000 and the program would keep adding profiles untill it reached that number.(assuming it's that simple) and then deliver the GEDCOM as always.

What do you think?

I think it's a great Idea

Would it be possible to do the above.
If I want to download my ancentors, and get all 100,000 names, I also have my program download the pictures ect. That'a around 25,000 pics right now. Being able to specify a smaller number would cut down on the demand to your system, and after downloading I never do a report on all 100,000 people at one time anyway.

Also, If I could just do a line. Like the relationship report. Say if I wanted to get the line from me to Charlemage or Julius Ceasar. I would only get a Gedcom with "my line " plus thier wives and the children of the main line. That way it would be easier to check to see if anything does not fit.

It is certainly possible. It can be done via the API right now.

There are probably a lot of other GEDCOM-related projects that we'd work on before something like this (such as a smart-import). However, I'm probably not the right person to ask. I'd assume Michelle or Mike would have a better idea of where GEDCOM stuff fits in the roadmap.
