I'm not sure who posted the oiginal message in the "Overview" tab under "About". The message goes like this:

"Who has a picture of him??

-------------------- Got his original wedding certificate. Dated 21 August 1867"

--------------------

Elton, I assume it's you (if not, I apologize). I spoke to Sixto Bislip and he asked his sister (Nicolina).

According to Adriana, her husband never had a picture taken of him. He didn't drive and usually stayed at home on days he didn't work. Since he was self employed he never had a pictured badge either. There was a rumor going around at a time that there is a picture of him, but according to his wife this was not the case. Just my 2 cents. And btw, it would be great if you could scan and upload a digital copy of their original wedding certificate.

Saludos, Victor (Bito)

And a wedding certificate dated 21 August 1867 would be that of his parents, not his.

David, of course you are right. I wasn't paying attention to the date. Thanks for pointing that out. August 21 st is the date of Frans Lodewijk's first marriage.

I'm glad I started this discussion. Thanks for replying. I'm really new at all this and am still trying to get used to the site and the possiblities it offers.

You might be interested in joining a project I started:

Though given the geography you are looking at, the following may be more relevant:

And if you go back to Spanish roots:

and others!

There are lots of us here trying to help others. There is a public discussion for accessing curators to get help from them.

You can also send me a personal Geni message if you want. Your work is in an area of interest to me too.

David

Thanks for the info and the links. I have a few off days coming up and I will delve into all this information you made available to me. I'm becoming increasingly interested in my family history and my roots.

I think it's important that I do my part to make sure my children and their offspring have a clear picture of where they came from and understand their roots. If in the process I can help others as well that's even better.

I will most likely join at least some of the projects you mentioned here and hope I can make contributions to make our stories more complete.

If there's anything you want me to find out for you over here, or any documents you would like me to try to put my hands on for you I'll gladly make the effort. I'm also planning to visit Curacao as often as I can as there is way more info availabe there on the jewish families than there is here.
