In the About: 6de Nov 1763 getroud ....so unless she died the day she married, looks like a typo...

ahh @Donovan, that makes sense. I'm not a manager on this profile, so I'd prefer that someone who is Private User, Private User make the changes so that they're happy with them.

She was only married to pretorius

Under here source I get this.
c1 Hilletje Magdalena de Beer
» 1.10.1748, vgl. Pretorius en Brits

That usually means that she had two husbands.
I see under revisions that see was merged with Heyltje de Beer.
I will have to look into the de Beer book. I have it.

and then there is annother one b5c1c1 Heeltje de Beer » 29.8.1744, vgl. Pretorius
so b6c1 was incorrectly merged with b5c1.
Both nearly the same names but different persons, different names, both married to a Pretorius. Different date of births.
That is why we always have to make absolutely sure of the names.
I can see what happend here.Logical it is:
There was a merge or match and only the first names were nearly the same and the husbands so they were merged. That is why I prefer all names in the 1st field.
Who wants to fix it?
I can't as the stitches were not taken out yet, as there are too m uch fluid and I am busy with other lines.

just 1 more point. That is just what happened in the Marais and Potgieter trees many times. June and Daan can also tell you that.
Two Marais brothes married to two Rossouw sisters - children with same names, married different people with same names and they get merged.

Profiles that are vulnerable have to be locked

I'm not so sure..

There is still a profile for Hilletje Magdalena de Beer

Hilletje Magdalena de Beer, a2b7c1

However she is at risk of been merged THE SUFFIX is the same...Isn't this no. supposed to prevent incorrect merges, not encourage them??

Private User

I have asked for that merge to be reversed - can we hold fire until that is done and then look again please?

Heyltje de Beer,Changed the Suffix to b5c1

It appears there was some confusion here also between the Hilletje Magdalena de Beer and the Heyla Magdalena de Beers. I understand that these can easily be assumed but these are actually different on the baptism documents and the Heyla is actually Heyla and the Hilletje just that.

In total there appears to be 6 different versions of this name, but this is sometimes wrongly used.

Hilletje M ~1 Oct 1748
Hilletje M ~19 Jul 1779 sometimes shown as Heyla M
Heyla M ~ 15 Nov 1789
Heyla M ~ 1 Jun 1801 sometimes shown as Hilletje M
Hilletje M ~12 May 1805

Note Heyla M de Beer ~ 1 Jun 1801 was not married to Barnard. She was married to AP van de Berg (~1799-1873) on 27 Oct 1816 and then to PHT Potgieter (1799 - 1883) on 10 Feb 1874 in Potchefstroom.

Heyla M de beer ~1789 was married to Greivenstein "Grefenstein" ~1769

HIlletje M 1779 was married to Robberts

5/18/2014 at 3:39 AM

1748 to Pretorius and Brits

Thank you Lional. I'm going to let Judi & Donovan use the info, in case too many cooks spoil the broth. It definitely looks to me like an area that needs MPs, Curator Notes and naming fields locked to prevent mismerges.

Heyla Magdalena Robbertse, c4d6

Is the Hilletjie name option on this profile problematic?.

5/19/2014 at 1:30 AM

vgl means vergelyk (compare). The author is warning that there is some duplication/confusion and is asking you to compare the same name attached to the given surnames.

In DP page 107 we have b6c10 Gideon Brits x 10.5.1787 Hilletje Magdalena de Beer , Wed. van Petrus Pretorius.

I put in a request to under the merge so you should wait until that is done before doing anything surely?

Private User

I totally agree with you June.

Private User

Mike Stangel has informed me that the merge has been udone

Private User
5/21/2014 at 10:52 PM

I think they can safely be remerged...

5/22/2014 at 8:25 AM

Bear in mind that b5c1 and b6c1 are different persons with the same name who marry a pretorius also different.

Private User

That is why is was un-merged - so that it could be carefully done - correctly! So hope you guys can do that!

Me as well.

b5c1 Heeltjie 1744 is currently indicated as Heylje b6c1.
and the curator note also is confusing.

b5c1 Heeltje de Beer » 29.8.1744, vgl. Pretorius (sic) from GR.
Why the (sic) as this is correct?

Private User

Peter Dennis where is b5c1 Heeltjie 1744 is currently indicated as Heylje b6c1.?

Private User can you clarify the note:-
b5c1 Heeltje de Beer » 29.8.1744, vgl. Pretorius (sic) from GR.
xxd1 Johannes Lodewyk Pretorius » 4.5.1738 x 6.11.1763 Hilletje de Beer

5/23/2014 at 3:26 AM

1.Heyltje de Beer .(first profile mentioned to the left of this discussion.) takes one to the profile which is the daughter of Zacharias b5.
2.the heading of curators note..This is the Master Profile for Heyltje de Beer b6c1.
Curator Note from Donovan Paul Penaluna (yesterday):
b5c1 Heeltje de Beer » 29.8.1744, vgl. Pretorius (sic) from GR.
xxd1 Johannes Lodewyk Pretorius » 4.5.1738 x 6.11.1763 Hilletje de Beer
There seems to be 6 different profiles with very similar names. Profile temporarily locked due to danger of bad merge

5/23/2014 at 3:28 AM

b5c1 was only married to a pretorius
b6c1 was married to a pretoius and a de beer
