In 1940, all immigrants to to the United States were required to register with the U.S. Department of Justice-Immigration and Naturalization Service. Since he was unable to write in English, his son, Sid Scheckner completed the registration paper showing he lived with him, his wife, and son Stuart at 82 Meyer Street, Hackensack, New Jersey. This paper states that he arrived in the United States on June 10, 1889, at the age of 29 years old. At the time this form was completed he was 5 ft./5 in. tall, grey hair, and brown eyes.
