Hi all, Id love any information on how the Appleby's were connected to the Parsons family, i suppose that Edwin Appleby may have been related to Eliza jane Parsons who was the mother of his adopted son Ezra.
That's more or less correct.
On the 1881 census there are 2 Ezras in the Appleby household.
By the time of the 1891 census, Edwin has died, and his wife is now head of the household.
Here is the odd thing - while Edwin is alive both Ezras are listed as sons, but on the 1891 one is clearly identified as adopted.
I get the impression that taking in Eliza (and her giving birth in the Appleby household) was down to Edwin, and that his wife was not too happy.
And why was the baby named Ezra (the same as Edwin's own son)?
