Who is the son of R' Mordechai Banet and father of R' David Eliyahu Banet?

in the book "Shem VeSheerit LeNefesh Haya" (שם ושארית לנפש חיה) one can find a worka Hasid from the town of Dzalushin named R' David Eliyahu Banet, who was a son of R' Mordechai Banet's son.

Rabbi Mordechai had 3 known sons.

I think there should be two different trees of Mordechai Banet (Binet, Benet) of the Chatam Sofer family tree. We wrote our name Binet, and somebody Benet. Benedikt name came from the family of Mordechai Benet or Binet.
I know two people who are dealing with the tree of Mordechai Benet (Binet) seriously.
If you are interested I can send one of them E-mail adress. On my father side I am descendant of Mordechai Benet. In the same time were living two Mordechai Benet. They were cousins. One of them lived in Stomfa. He worked with Chatam Sofer. I am about in sixth generation of the Mordechai Benet in Stomfa.
I have a very big family tree of Benet family. I think you have to contact who made it. There are some other names in this family tree.

i am also from the same family as Vera. The name is written Benet or Binet when transliterated from Hebrew but they also used the secular names of: Binet, Bineth, Benedikt, Binet(t)er.

The part of the family you refer to is descended from the Nikolsburg Banet/Benet and they also used the secular: Benedict (there are Benedict descendants in Sydney too - where I live.)
According to Dr Neil Rosenstein in his book "The Unbroken Chain" at p.874: R.Mordechai Banet who you refer to had:
1.a son R.Abraham Eberl Banet who wrote his father's biography in Toldot Aviv, Open, 1833.
2.a son Jacob Eberl who was a scribe in Nikolsburg and died there in 1865.
3.a son Naftali Banet 1789-1857. He was ABD and Rosh Yeshiva in Schaffa, Moravia 1836-1857. and wrote: Brit Melacha, Prague, 1816; Emunat Yisrael, Prague, 1832 and Torat Dat Moshe VeYisrael, Prague, 1826. It is his descendants that live in Sydney.
4.a son R.Moses Banet. his son was R.Gershon Wolf Banet ABD Ungvar who married the daughter of R.Solomon Ganzfried.
5. R.Isaiah Banet 1797-1866 ABD Nachod, Mislitz and Kalov, Hungary. Married Gitel daughter of R.Eleazar Rokeach. Son of Isaiah was R.DovBer Abraham Banet 1824-1902.

Thank u Raziel I have seen that however I like that you have added a 4th son to Reb Mordechai benet, that is not what the forum concludes but what I personally think could be correct.

I don't know if there was a 4th son. I added the 4th son since I don't know who was the father of David Eliyahu Banet (He also might be one of the other 3 sons).

That way I managed to link David Eliyahu Banet to R' Mordechai - but I might have entered an error to the tree. So I also opened this discussion in order to try and find out the identity of R' Mordechai son that was he father of David Eliyahu Banet.

1. There seems to be a big mess in this family tree - I couldn't dissconnect Moshe Banet from "the wrong" R’ Mordechai Banet. Moshe Benet has 2 profiles – both not as a son of a different R’ Mordechai Banet.

2. Peter - if you find more children of daughters of R’ Benet – please go ahead and add them to the family tree.

He currently has a son Moshe who in turn has a son Gershon married to Chana Ganzfried.

But that Gershon is also shown as the son of a DIFFERENT Moshe: Moshe Binet. He in turn is the son of Markusz (Moshe Mordechai) Benet (Benedikt) (1775-1849)

That Moshe Mordechai is presumably therefore the "other" Mordechai that Private User and Private User referred to.

1. According to Neil Rosenstein in his book "The Unbroken Chain" quoted above by Private User, Moshe is the son of the first Mordechai Benet we have been looking at.

2. According to Binyamin, the moderator of the forum http://sf.tapuz.co.il/shirshur-325-113028559.htm quoted by Private User above, Moshe would likely be the son of the "other" Mordechai.

Here we have a conflict.

Since this Mordechai's sons are mentioned in the Mikulov (Nikolsburg) cemetery - as well as Rebekka - I will go ahead and Add her to the family.
