Hi, could anyone hint at useful online resources for locating ancestors in the Alsace region? This area was handed between Germany and France several times in the 18 and 1900s, and I am struggling getting below my 2nd great grandparents who were from this area. I have gotten as far as these four people:

Adrien Tailland
Adèle Tailland
Jean Louis Binther
Françoise Marie Barbe Binther

All of them were born about the middle of the 1800s, and they have some connections to the town of Saverne/Zabern.

Please post back here if you find some resources. I've still got relatives in Alsace, and yet cannot find anything prior to my 3rd or 4th great grandparents...

There are good sources for Jewish ancestors in Alsace btw.

Well, I got links for the public records of Bas-Rhin (http://etat-civil.bas-rhin.fr/adeloch/index.php) and Haut-Rhin http://www.archives.cg68.fr/Services_Actes_Civils.aspx(), they proved very useful. An index of French online resources is at http://fr.geneawiki.com/index.php/Archives_en_ligne.
