Linking up remote profiles

I've done a fair amount of merging and not encountered the objections I see others meeting so hopefully I'm not messing up :) . But I'm not sure how to handle merging profiles which, on the face of it, are very remote. These for instance.

Leaving aside whether they are the same (and GeoLarson2 certainly points that way -

), how can I pull them together? The reason I want to is that John Steinbeck
John Ernst Steinbeck, Jr., Nobel Prize in Literature 1962
is a descendant of this lady - I have him in my photo album from when I set him up, but he wandered off :(

Oh I think they are likely the same lady. Be sure your source is cited in your profile.

You "request to merge" the two profiles together. A "merge approval" goes out to the other manager, they review, approve or reject, and you go from there.

Merging is so much the way to put pieces together!

Thanks. I've done that - no response at present. I was considering how, if I had management rights to both profiles (not the case here) one could pull them together without involving another manager. Mostly I've used the tree view merge, which implies they are close to each other, or the merge issues merge, where Geni's AI works out (sometimes correctly :) ) if the profiles are the same. But what if neither apply?

David ... you have to bring up each profile in a different screen in tree view. On one profile, "move this person", then go to the other screen and refresh (F5), the floating tile will appear.

I found that the second tree view didn't refresh with F5, but when I navigated to another profile, the profile to link showed up.
That's the Duke count up to seven, now!
