Objective and Good Reasons

Yes, Flash is not an open standard. But, more importantly, it is not consistent on all platforms. Versions differ from one platform to the other, and some platforms don't even have the latest Flash, or don't have it at all for that matter.

I think these are good enough reasons to consider alternatives.

Even when there is a version of flash available on some platforms, it just doesn't work.

If I try to load Flash content on my friend's Motorola Droid, it just freezes.

Flash is broken, and there is nothing to do except move to better technology.

Excellent point. Android is one of the most important platforms. I'm using another mobile Linux variant, the Maemo 5, and I was frustrated not being able to be in touch with my tree on it
