There is a Ransom family from the Dover, NH area; unconnected with other Ransom Lines. Earliest reference seems to be to Thomas Ransom, who appears on a military record in 1740. Common first names are Richard, John and Ebenezer. Many members of htis Ransom line migrated to South Boston around 1818. I have the information from the Ransom files in Buffalo, but have found more.
