קיבלתי הצעה לניהול העץ שלי מאדם שאינני מכיר הטוען
שהוא מנהל בהתנדבות כ2000 עצים.לא מדביק כאן את הצעתו כי היא ארוכה
מאוד. מה דעתכם? מה עלי לעשות?י

האם הכונה לניהול פרופיל מסוים? לשם מה? אתה קראת את פרטי ההצעה - האם השתכנעת שיש בה משהו מיוחד - אם לא, תתעלם

גם אני קיבלתי הצעה כזו (פעמיים) ודחיתי אותה.
בעיקר מהתחושה שאני יכול להסתדר לבד אבל גם מההרגשה שלעשות מיקור חוץ לבניית עץ המשפחה שלי זה קצת הזנייה של כל הרעיון

מעניין האם זה אותו "מציע" בכל הפעמים.

חפרתי בכל ההתכתבויות שלי ולא מצאתי את המכתב הזה אבל אני זוכר אותו בבירור.

מהשאלה שלך ברור שאת גנאלגית אמיתית. :-)
אני מניח שיש אנשים שחשוב להם לשמר את ההסטוריה אבל "ממש לא בא להם להתעסק עם זה"...ייתכן שהם התחילו את האילן (אני לא אוהב את המינוח עץ משפחה) לעבודת שורשים בבית הספר של הילדים וזה עבר להם אחרי הגשת העבודה, או כל סיבה אחחת, ויש אנשים חובבי גנאלוגיה שמוכנים לנהל אילנות של אחרים.
כל עוד זה מגיע ממניעים נקיים - הכל בסדר.
לדוגמא - אני מנסה טיפין טיפין לבנות את אילנות היוחסין של העיירה של סבי מלפני מלחמת העולם השניה. יש שם אנשים שכרגע אין ביני לבינם קשר, אבל יש להם מכנה משותף וזו העיירה.

.כמו שאמרתי,אכן אנשים טובים.,לא התייחסתי למכתב למרות שהיה נדמה לי שאולי אוכל להעזר בגורם זר לצורך הרחבת אילן היוחסין [אוהב יותר את המינוח הזה]י

"Roni, please accept my request to collaborate so we can build our family tree together. I hope you will consider collaborating with me, as we need to fix and improve Geni. I am an experience genealogist. In fact, since I retired, I have been working hard on cleaning up profiles and trees in Geni, and getting merges accomplished so that we all can have a better experience and a better family history. I am a part of what they call the "Big Tree", which means that I am connected to most of the kings and queens of Europe - although they have yet to share any of their money with me or invite me over. This big tree consists of an estimated 125 million people, and includes over 1.5 million people who have posted on genealogical websites. It is the largest genealogical tree of all. Probably, there are far more connections with people who have not yet surfaced. I don’t know if we are connected, but there is a great likelihood that we are in some way. But, I work all the time with people who are not related to me because we share the same interest in Geni: getting it fixed. In fact, I think its better to have more people with varied interests and backgrounds. I am also a part of the Collaborators Pool working on cleaning up errors in Geni. As an experience Geni user, and along with my experience colleagues, I know how to fix profiles and reverse errors. Currently, I manage over 2000 profiles, and I am collaborating with over 1,000 people. I usually do about 100-150 merges per day - unless I'm working on a very difficult profile/tree, which can take a whole day or more just by themselves. I use many sophisticated research tools, including the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy, Medieval France History, the Mormon Church database, the UCLA Genealogical database, Ancestry.com, Footnote.com, Familypedia, Google Genealogy Searcher, Wikipedia and others. One of the many reasons to collaborate is when you have a merge involving a person with whom you do not collaborate. One of my collaborator colleagues or me may collaborate with that person and we can get that merge done. Geni has put together a video on collaborating. You absolutely will see every change that is made to a profile and will get notice of those changes immediately on Geni. And, as collaborators, we cannot touch profiles that are within 4 generations before you. Additionally, if you are interested in expanding your Geni experience and involvement (although it’s not required or necessary for your Geni experience), you might consider joining the Collaborators Pool. See http://www.geni.com/discussions/6000000008539319639, which is a Geni Public Discussing Group set up for people to join a large group of experienced collaborators by adding @ plus your name. This would make it easier for you to merge your family's profiles and get help on issues from experienced genealogists. If you are interested, it might be good for you to join that pool. Having collaborated with me, and by joining the collaborators pool (if you wish), you will find it easier to fix those problematic merge issues. By the way, I was asked if there is a cost to this and the answer is absolutely not. There is no cost, whatsoever. I am a volunteer, just trying to make Geni better. גם אני נתקלתי בו בעבר (זה מכתב סטנדרטי שלו בו הוא מציע את מרכולתו לכל המעוניין).

למען הסר ספק - הוא איננו מציע לנהל את העץ במקומך, אלא מזמין אותך להיות שותף (collaborator) עימו. שיתוף זה יאפשר לכם לאחד כוחות במטרה להרחיב את העץ.

כבר ראיתי שהוא ממזג הרבה פרופילים בעץ - מטרתו איננה כלל שלילית,

לדעתי, ניתן להסתייע בו. (תציד, אם הנושא יימאס לך אפשר יהיה להוריד אותו מרשימת השותפים).

לא מדובר על ניהול האילן אלא על שיתוף פעולה. תפיסת העולם שהוגדרה ע"י ג'ני היא אילן יוחסין עולמי *שיתופי*, ולכן שת"פ הוא הדרך הטובה ביותר להגיע ליעד.
המשמעות היא שהשותפים יכולים לערוך את הפרופילים *הציבוריים* שלך בלבד. הפרופילים הפרטיים במסגרת קבוצת המשפחה (אלא אם הפכת את חלקם לציבורי) ישארו מוגנים לקבוצת המשפחה בלבד.

עד כה - לא נגרם לי נזק בזדון מאף שותף. היו חילוקי דעות שיושבו בצורה טובה לכל הצדדים.

מבט קצר על רשימת הפרופילים שלך, מראה שיש לך סה"כ 19 פרופילים ציבוריים. במצב זה הסיכוי שיש לך מה להרוויח משיתוף פעולה סתמי עם משתמש כמו הנ"ל הוא אפסי לחלוטין.
