Am I right in thinking Dickie died in a car crash. And that he worked for Rolls Royce?

Yes he did die in a car crash near Pretoria in 1960. Adam would possibly have the details. I know that he was a Motor salesman at the date of his marriage to my grandmother, Ginette, in March 1923 and joined the RAF 13 March 1926. I don't now whether he represented RR in this period or whether he joinded the South African RR fanchise after he retired from the RAF

As far as I know, Dick left the RAF, having been Air Attache in Pretoria and joined RR as Southern Africa Representative - which he was at the time of his death. I can't give you exact date of leaving RAF but presumably it is on record somewhere.(And of course, Adam will know)
