In 1830, Elia and her brother Joseph, filed a claim against the government of the United States, seeking the return of the families 800 acres west of the Pearl River near Beaver Creek. The action reports that the track of land was granted to the Walker Family by the Spanish Government and that the claim should be honored under the treaty of 1812. The claim of land was granted by the U.S. Congress in 1830 with the stipulation that the original track belonged to the U. S. government but that the Walker heirs could choose another track of land own by the U. S. government and limited the size to 640 acres and that the acreage had to be in the state of Mississippi.

So what does this mean to your family at this point in time? This is really significant. The Aubry's had land in Louisiana and the State took it. They tore down the home and its just an empty lot. I got to see it when I went to New Orleans. Let me know if you find out more about this.
