Harriett Brown was born Harriett Augusta Brewer in 1869, Keswick, York County, NB, Canada. Daughter of William and Martha as per info on her marriage registration to "Samuel Edgar Brown (b. 1862 Fredericton Junction) in the NB archives. She and her twin were given up for adoption to two different families. Harriett was adopted by a family whose last name was "Hanson" from around the Fredericton, NB area. Possibly by a family member as I believe the Hanson's and Brewer's have a lot of common relatives and her christian names remained unchanged with the adoption. It is possible, she may have been adopted by Levi Hanson (50) and Lucy Jane Jones (34) as the only info I could find for a "Harriett Augusta Hanson" was at "familysearch.org where her parents are down as Levi Hanson and Lucy Jane Jones. In the Bright, NB 1871 census she is not included as one of the Hanson children but the familysearch.org has her christening down as 17 June 1870. I believe she went to live with the Hanson after the census. Exactly when, I am not sure. On her marriage registration, she has William and Martha down as parents. My grandmother "Gladys" and her sister "Harriett Leola" put their mother's name down as "Harriett Augusta Brewer" but the other three siblings put their mother's name down as "Harriett Augusta Hanson" on their marriage registrations. Harriett put her maiden name as "Hanson" on all of her children's birth registrations but used the last name of "Brewer" on her marriage registration. All I can say for sure is "Harriett Augusta Brewer and Harriett Augusta Hanson" are one and the same person.
