Service in Civil War

This man had a very interesting career as a soldier from 1861 to 1864, having served in Company A of the 2nd Illinois Volunteer Cavalry. He was known to have private conversations with General Grant.

I'd be glad to share some of his stories if anyone cares to know a little more about him.

I am also looking for any of his relatives.
