I am looking for any information on Stanley Hugh Newington. Born 1920. He was in active service in South Africa during World War II. He was my grandfather. My grandmother was Helena Catherine Marjory Schoeman, who lived in Krugersdorp at the the time of the birth of my father in 1944.

hi Paula. Thank you for answering. My father is Douglas. He was born Douglas Hage/Hugh Newington but was adopted in Salisbury Rhodesia. now Harare, Zimbabwe. Our adopted surname is Cockcroft. Douglas had a sister, but we do not know if she had the same father. Douglas and his sister were separated by adoption at the Rhodesian children home. I think there was a four year difference in age. she was definately still in a cot when Douglas last saw her. Stanley Hugh Newington was in the RAF. I don't think he ever lived in South Africa, rather posted here during the 2nd world war. I am sure there were not a lot of Stanley Hugh Newington's in South Africa during the 2nd world war. I am living in Cape Town. My father is in East London South Africa. we have never been able to trace my fathers parents as it was law in those days that you couldn't. it is next to impossible now to trace anything through Zimbabwe. I would be delighted to hear from you again. my e-mail address is we have no trace of the mother. Kind regards. Hellen
