I read this week, that there were 12 million slaves exported from Africa. Only about 450,000 came to U.S. trying to track down early arrivals is hard but fun!

What about early Dutch colonies in South America, and in the Caribbean??

The book 'Het slavenschip Leusden, verongelukt voor de kust van Suriname, 1738 is about an accident where 700 african slave lost their lives. Only 16 survives. This ship was one of the last that brought slaves to Suriname, every journey about 660. In total de Leusden made 10 trips with slaves, only 73% survived.
