1. ANDRÁS ([1014]-Zirc Autumn 1060

m firstly --- (-before [1039]). According to Europäische Stammtafeln, the first wife of András was a pagan in Hungary[409], although the primary source on which this is based has not been identified.

King András & his first wife had [one child]:
a) [son. The Chronicon Dubnicense records that "rex Andreas" had one son "Georgium" by "concubina…quam habuit de villa Morouth"[413]. He was baptised [1037/38] in Kiev as IURI [George][414]. He went to Scotland in 1055, where he is alleged to have been the ancestor of the Drummond family[415]. If this is correct, it is surprising that this Hungarian origin is not mentioned either in The Complete Peerage[416] or in Burke's Dormant and Extinct Peerages[417]. It is stated in Burke's Peerage & Baronetage[418] that the Drummond family "allegedly migrated from Hungary to Scotland in the 11th century" but no details of the alleged ancestry are given earlier than Sir Malcolm Drummond (early 14th century). In any case, it is unclear why the king of Hungary's eldest son, whose eventual succession prospects must have been good despite the rule of primogeniture not having been established to govern the Hungarian succession, would have left his country in this way.]
