About 省身 陳
Ch'en Hsing-shen, known as S. S. Chern, prominent mathematician, specialized in differential geometry and topology. He worked at the Institute of Advanced Study at Princeton (1943-46) and directed the institute of mathematics of the Academia Sinica (1945-48). In 1949 he returned to the United States, where he became a professor at the University of Chicago and later at the Unviersity of California at Berkeley.
