About Sarah Matilda Cannon

From the Mississippi Baptist, Volume 3, No. 11, June 16, 1859 by Rev T J Veasey, were W H Cannon of lincoln County, TN, to Miss S M Veazey, daughter of J Veazey of DeSoto County, MS. On page 32, William and Sarah Cannon "married within the year" were living with her mother. On page 351, in 1870, Desoto County, MS, Matilda, a widow, and her son Willis living with her mother and grandmother, Hannah Veazey. On page 228, in 1880, in Tate County, MS, Sarah and her son Willie were shown with her brother F F Veazey. It appears from this record that William Cannon died young and left his young wife and one young son, who then lived with her family for many years.
