The following was taken from the Nov. 1, 1954 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
A. C. (Chesley) Locklear, farmer of near Pembroke, died in a Lumberton hospital Friday afternoon of a heart ailment. He had been in impaired health for more than two years.
Funeral services will be held on his 75th birthday Tuesday at 3 p.m. at St Annah Baptist Church.
The Locklear farm adjoined the church grounds and he was a member of the congregation. He also was a former member of the Masonic order.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ida Scott Locklear; two daughters, Mrs. Aggie Locklear Deese and Mrs. Carrie Lee Deese (by his earlier marriage to Mary Brooks, who died six years ago); a stepmother, Mrs. Annie Locklear; a half brother and four half sisters; 21 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
