About Abe Bobair (Cohen)

Abe changed the last name from Cohen to Bobair because the manager at the Liberty Theatre said the Jewish name on the marquee was bad for business. Lucille did some investigation and found the name Bobair in the family tree.

1932 Abe a member of the Paramount House Band

1935 Abe a member of the Al Lyons Orchestra

1953 Abe a member Ted Fio Rito Beverly Hills Band

Abe married Lucille Elsie Barnard-Morrow 1937.

Abe became a member of Musicians Local 47 A. F. of M. on June 23, 1934, and on that date in 1964 became a lifetime member. His pal John Tegrone was the president and made sure Abe always had work. I remember helping Abe write the last check to the union to cover insurance dues in 2007 when he was so damn sick, being carred for in Assisted Living at Kingsley Manor care center just off Santa Monica Blvd near the Hollywood Fwy.
