At a county court holden for the Body of Whitley County Dec term 1819 P 78 Ordered by the Court that Samuel Sexson & Joel Sexson be exempt from paying County Levy for the year 1818.

From Early History of Greene co. 1875 In 1841...This year...Judge Joel B. Sexton appeared as associate judges...Judge Sexton will be remembered by many of the older citizens, although he has been dead several years. He settled at a very early day in Burlington township, and for many years was one of our leading men and best citizens.

 Patricia Patton states that Abigail and Martha were sisters, daughters of John Davis and Rebecca Lovins. They were in Monroe Co, then moved to Boone Co IN. Not verified by me." Willi

. . . So now I will give a short account of the Davis Family as it was given to me, but I have no account of any of them emigrating from the old world (Europe) But the account of them was that James Davis emigrated from Virginia in an early day and settled and located in Whitly County Kentucky. But I have no account to give of any of his family except his son John. And his son John married Rebecca Davis and five children were born unto them in Whitley County Kentucky, namely, Polly, Patsy, William, Abigail and Linie. So Joel Sexson and Abigail Davis were raised up a large part of the time from childhood to manhood and woman hood in the same vicinity. Which appears to be the time of life for those of the opposite sex to fall in love with each other. But about the time that Abigail Davis was arriving at woman hood her father and her grdfather: John and James Davis emigrated to Indiana. And her father John Davis settled down on Little Indian Creek in Monroe County, Indiana about one mile southwest of Bunavista. On a farm that was formerly known as the Seth Tatum farm, but it is known now as the Henry Teague farm. But before the Davis family left Kentucky, the bonds of love had grown so strong which bound the hearts of Joel Sexson and Abigail Davis together that distance was no barrier to the gallant young mountaineer......
