He was a Schultheiss (mayor) and judge, a distinguished member of his community. He died in 1716 at the age of eighty-eight! For him to have lived to the advanced biblical age of 88 is indeed noteworthy, since our life expectancies nwo are more than double that of our ancestors in the 1700s.
The Fiechtners were Protestant religious refugees from Catholic Austria. Abraham's father, Andreas Fiechtner, and his famly fled their home in Gramastetten near Linz, Austria during the devastation of the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) and eventually settled in Unterweissach (now Weissach i.Tal).
