By son Bert==My Dad was the son of James and Sarah born in Owen Sound Ontario He grew up in Owen Sound until he came with his mother to Saskatchewan in 1908 to join his Dad and Brother Jim, Albert first homesteaded on NE 12 22 9 but abadoned it to homestead on NW 13 22 10 on December 31, 1908 This was one mile west of what later became the town of Demaine Sk Here he built a 12 x 14 lumber shack but usually stayed with his parents so he could drive his mother on her many mid-wife trips
Albert was a tinsmith and plumber by trade and during the winter months he went to MooseJaw to work at his trade. In the spring of 1916 he built another room on his shack beacuse on June 6, 1916 he hooked up the horse and buggy taking Marion Kuhlmeier to Herbert SK to be married. It is rumoured that on the way back he sang to Mom the song"Oh I wish I was single again again for when I was single my pockets did jingle I wish I was single again"" When I asked my Mom about this she would just laugh. With each new child the shack grew ending up in the middle of a six room house. They lived there until 1962 when they moved to the town of Demaine into a new house. Dad also was on the school Board for the district of Sunkist and Demaine so always knew what we were up to
