The name of Alexander Witherspoon's first wife, mother of James Alexander Witherspoon, is unknown.

"Alexander Wethirspoon of Brighouse, at age 43, m. Nov. 19, 1626, Jhoneta (Jane) Wilsoune, a dau. of Jacobus (James) Wilson and Marion Know; ...The only son (by this marriage) of whom we have written knowledge, was Johne, who was declared heir after his fady. Alexander Withirspuun, on May 16, 1649, when he was ae. 22, hence born in 1627."
