About Alfred Henry "Tim" Edwards

Tim was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, of British parents. From 1901 onward he lived in Sussex, England, until enlisting in the British Army at the onset of World War I.

He lied about his date of birth (and birth-place) in order to enter the Army whilst still a minor.

He was wounded in action in the summer of 1916, during the Battle of the Somme.

His elder brother, Walter, was killed in action a few months earlier, 1916 April 26.
