Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in Gethsemane Cemetery, both in Lansing. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing. She is survived by her children, Tom (Ruth) Ferring, Donna (Gary) Danzer, Ron (Linda) Ferring, Bill (Karen) Ferring, Mary (Keith) Garrett and Rita (Steve) Heim; 30 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Ray Cole, of Lansing. Alma was born July 23, 1913, in Lansing to James and Isabelle (Flowers) Cole. She married Joseph Ferring on Feb. 11, 1930, in Dubuque, Iowa. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and rocking babies. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joseph; seven children, Virginia, Bernice, Keith, Ken, Jerry, Dwayne and Steve; two brothers, James and Harold Cole; and two sisters, Edna Gibbs and Ardell Lind.
