Almon D. Labay was born 19 May 1866 in Inverness, Megantic County, Province of Quebec, Canada. He was the 9th of 11 children of Hubert Dessalier AKA: Pierre "Peter" Labay & Jane Campbell. He died 19 Aug 1872, soon after the family immigrated from Canada to Vermont. The family later moved west to South Dakota. His father, "Peter" LaBay (1816-1888)is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Arlington, Kingsbury County, South Dakota. His mother, Jane Campbell, married Warren Pierce as her 2nd husband. She returned to Vermont and died 7 Apr 1909. She is buried near him in Lyndon Center Cemetery.
