About Amelia Murray ('Murray')
(217) John Murray of Strowan. Will recorded 10th November 1732 (Edinburgh). He was M.P. for Perthshire 1704-07. He was father of: -
- 217(a) Amelia Murray of Strowan, who, as widow of James Murray of Glencarse (No. 181c above) (who died March 17 12), was served heir to her father 11th June 1746. She died 4th March 1749. Will recorded 20th July 1749 (Dunblane). They had issue:-
- 217(a)1 Henry Murray of Strowan.
- 217(a)2 Amelia Murray of Strowan, served heir to her brother 5th May 1726, and to her father 30th July 1754. She was then the wife of Lord George Murray (No. 104 above).
ARMS of Henry Murray of Lochlaw, " descended of Strowan," recorded in Lyon Office, 1672-77. - Azure, a falcon's head erased between three mullets argent. CREST : A greyhound courant proper. MOTTO : " Gloria non prceda." [Plate V, fig. 1.]
