Andreas Fiechtner came from the area of the Gammenstetten (Gramastetten) near Linz, Upper Austria. The Fiechtners were Protestant religious refugees from Catholic Austria. They fled their home in Gramastetten during the devastation of the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) and eventually settled in Unterweissach (now Weissach i. Tal) in Baden-Wuerttemberg.
Many Fiechtners became distinguished members of their communities. The position of Schultheis (village mayor)
was held for several generations.
