Andrew Newton was born in Hartford, however at his birth, Vermont was a colony of England. At his death, Vermont was a sovereign nation. He is buried in the Christian St. Cemetery, now in the country of the USA.
Andrew Newton was born up on Jericho Hill at the Newton family original land in the town of Hartford, Vermont. In 1802 he bought a one-room house land from a cousin of the Hazen family on the east side of the hill on Christian St. He fought in the War of 1812 at the age of 31.
He raised his family there. He had only one son, Joseph. His English side hill barn, perhaps built not long after he moved down the hill, is still in use, though no longer for agriculture . In the 1830's he began building a cape house that still stands in 2011. Andrew began expanding from the original approx 16 acres, most on the east side of Christian St.
The last living Newton from Andrew and Mary's desendents with the name Newton was Marion Newton, their great-granddaughter. Marion never married. The last living male was their grandson James, father of Marion.
