The name in England was spelled variously Maggs/Meggs/Megges. The correct wife is Emma Strong. The proofs are first the will of Emma's mother Margaret Strong which names her daughter Emm wife of Vincent Maggs. Second proof baptismal records for children Mark, Vincent, and Mary at Chardstock, Devon, that list parents as Vincent Maggs and wife Emm. Emma Strong's father was William Strong. A third proof is a document listing Vincent Meggs alias Love, and his wife Emma, and son John as proprietors of the Angel Inn in Axminster in 1617.
All of these documents can be found on the meigs.org website.
The Churchill names comes from a printed genealogy many years ago which included no evidence or documentary proof.
