About Anna Lois Armstrong
LOIS HOWLAND 1932-2010 We are saddened to report the death of Anna Lois (Armstrong McLaughlin) Howland, a beloved lifelong East Sandwich resident and descendant of Benjamin Nye, who was a member of our Board of Directors for 35 years. For most of those years she served as clerk, as well as president for several years in the mid 1990s. Lois lived at Mill Pond Farm, another 17th century Nye house and property, just uphill from the Homestead & Museum, where her great-grandparents Samuel H. and Ruth Sears Nye established a dairy farm in 1866. Ever kind, helpful, and interested in many things, and all the people around her, Lois is deeply missed. A memorial for her held at the Grange Hall on February 27th was the most heavily attended event of its kind held in recent memory, with about 250 people indoors and out.
