Anna Johanne Bauer was born 1792 in Fredericia, Elbo, Vejle, Denmark. She was christened 22 April 1792 at Sankt Michaelis Church, Frederica. Her parents were Johann Henrich Bauer and Anne Cathrine Jensdatter.

She married customs officer Johan Christian Gottfried Kunckel 10 May 1815 at Michaelis Church Fredericia. They had three children:

Theo Caroline Kunckel, born 25 September 1819 (died in infancy)

Dorthea Caroline Kunckel, born about 1821

Johan Christian Kunckel, born 11 May 1825

The family lived for a time in Kalundborg, Holbæk.

Anna Johanne was widowed 15 September 1832. She moved back to Fredericia with her children and henceforth made her living from spinning and needlework.

In February 1834 Anna Johanne was living with her two children at Norgesgade, no. 554a.

She had a relationship with Søren Petersen and there were two illegitimate children:

Sørine Marie Wismar (also known as Kunckel and Petersen), born 27 April 1834

Søren Johannes Petersen, born 28 January 1836.

By 1840 she had moved to Bjergegade, no.158, with three of her children. This address is next door to where Søren Petersen had been living in 1834.

Anna Johanne died 27 December 1846 in Fredericia and was buried 30 December 1846 at Trinitatis Church.
