About Anne Cozzens (Brown)

She was the daughter of George Brown, and it is almost certain that either her father or grandfather, both named George, and both lawyers, were members of the group that attacked the British Ship “Gaspee” as she was disabled, aground off Warwick, in 1772. It is also likely, that her father was the G. Brown who attended, and witnessed Leonard Cozzens’ second marriage to Sarah Wheatly, in 1758. Benjamin and Anne had fourteen children, eight of whom died either in infancy or at an early age.
