About Anne Skipwith (Miller)

Lady Anne Skipwith attended at ball at the Governor's Palace in Williamsburg, Virginia. She became miffed at her husband, Peyton Skipwith, and raced back to the Wythe house where she was staying at the time. Along the way she lost one of her red slippers. As she ascended the stairs, it sounded like someone with a peg leg because she was wearing only one slipper. Over the years Lady Skipwith's apparition has been seen and heard on the stairs.
