About Annemarie Thorsch/Torsh

In 1968 and 1969 Mimi studied art at the Chatswood evening College under the Hungarian refugee artist Desederius Orban. She went there with my mother in law Guinevere ("Vere") Humphreys to learn oil painting. When Mimi was a young girl she studied commercial art in Prague ( so far I have been unable to find out where) and then worked as an artist in the family business Firma Vigo in Celetna. She told me she designed dresses and also prepared advertising for the newspapers. Vere's brother was the successful and highly regarded artist Roderick (Rod) Shaw. He was part owner of a fine printer in the city in Sussex St which bore his name. Hanna WINER Mum's cousin told me she thought Mum studied drawing in a graphics or painting school down in the city area. all those sort of places were on Narodni trida or Prikopy not in Letna. They played tennis at the lawn tennis club in Letna.
