About Anton Christian Friederich Amelung

Anton was born in 1733 in Walsrode, north of Hanover.

He was war commissioner under general Seydlitz, lived then in Mölln (zw. Lübeck and tepid castle), then took a rental in Königslutter, later in Hohenbüchen (westl. of Alfeld). Then he leased the herzogl. braunschw. Mirror factory Grünenplan (in Alfeld) and and the company prospered so that it employed 800 workers. After 24 years (1794), he left Grünenplan in order to design a mirror factory in Livland independently. In addition, he took, 100 workers with their families with with him to Dorpat. Anton began building his factory in 1792 and in 1795 was factory ready. This was in two villages-Rõika and Meleski. The name of the factory was RÕIKA-MELESKI GLASSPRODUCTION.
