Athene Fragakis passed away peacefully on March 28, 2012 at home at the age of 67. Beloved wife of John Fragakis; devoted mother of George and Christopher; doting grandmother of John, Cassidy, Solomon, Grace and Olivia; daughter of the late George and Gloria Parson. Athene was an active member of the Red Hat Society and donated her time to Mater Dolorosa Church and Serra High School. Athene took immense pride in creating a loving home for her husband and boys, and raised her children to value and appreciate family. "Blood is thicker than water" was a favorite saying of hers. To say she loved her grandchildren could be the understatement of the year. Though she was an only child, she found sisterhood and brotherly love in all of her cousins. She loved her husband so deeply and cherished his devotion and love he gave back to her every day they were together. She will always be remembered for her smile and the way she touched people's hearts with her gentle kindness. Always a dreamer, she passed on this gift to her sons, hammering into their heads that they could do anything if they just put their minds to it. Mother and wife, Grandmother, cousin, aunt, and friend, you will be missed and always remembered with love and a smile. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, March 29 at 5:30pm and attend a Vigil Service at 7pm all at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City, CA 94014. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 30 at 1pm at Mater Dolorosa Church, 307 Willow Avenue, So. San Francisco, CA. Committal at Holy Cross Cemetery.
