Beatrice (Betty) Marie Uhlenkott, 86, a longtime Colton resident and recently of Castle Rock, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, in Longview. Betty was born May 15, 1924, in Keuterville, to Robert and Bertha Lemacher Forsman.

She grew up in Idaho and Oregon, graduating from Tigard (Ore.) High School in 1942.

Betty married Norbert Uhlenkott in Tigard on Nov. 6, 1945, and they made their home in Athol and Juliaetta until 1956, when they moved to Colton, where she lived until moving to Castle Rock in 2002.

Betty was a loving wife, mother and homemaker, who enjoyed horses and dogs throughout her life.

In 1961, she went to work for the Colton School District, both as a bookkeeper for 23 years and a bus driver for 38 years, until she retired in 1999. Betty was devoted to her Catholic faith and a member of the St. Gall Parish in Colton. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters and of the Grange.

Betty is survived by her children, Paul Uhlenkott of Grants Pass, Ore., the Rev. Gary Uhlenkott S.J. of Spokane, Nadine Hanifen of Leesburg, Va., Gale Uhlenkott of Seattle, Don Uhlenkott of Naples, Fla., Dan Uhlenkott of Castle Rock; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert, in 2000, and one son, David Uhlenkott, in 1980.

The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Colton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 with her son, the Rev. Gary Uhlenkott S.J., as celebrant. Burial will take place at St. Gall Catholic Cemetery, with a reception following at the Colton Gun Club.
