Capt. Benjamin settled in Winchester in 1770; was chosen highway surveyor at the first annual town meeting, 1771. His first deed in the town is dated April 4, 1771. He was lieutenant of the militia and served as such in the Revolution. First represented the town in the general assembly, in 1787, and several times afterwards. Removed to Coventry, Chenango County, in 1807, where he died.
