About Benjamin Franklin Bryant, Maj.

In the history books, Roxanna Price is always called the second wife of Benjamin, but she was the only legal wife. Both women had children by Benjamin, two born the same year. On all the Census records all the children are listed in Benjamin's household. But it wasn't all harmony; oh, to have been a fly on the wall! My sources are the Texas State Archives, where Benjamin petitioned the State Legislature to recognize his children born out of wedlock to Rebecca Parker. Also have a document showing her first child, William's name being changed from Parker to Bryant. In Milam Co TX this was known by some family members, but was news to others. In Benjamin's will he left his legitimate children twice as much property as the others.
