About Benjamin Francis Roberson

He was named as Benjamin Robinson in his father's 1835 will. He moved to Platte County, Missouri with his mother and siblings in 1839. He appears as Benj. Robertson on an early tax list (1839) of that county. He was listed on the 1850 census as Benj. F. Robertson (36), a farmer with real estate valued at $3,400. His household consisted of Cynthia (33), Robert (9), Benjm. (5), Isaiah (3) and Mahala (6/12). He was living near his mother and brother Craig.

In 1851, as Benjamin F. Robeson, he posted bond as administrator of his mother's estate in Platte County. In 1853, as Benjamin F. Roberson, he was administrator of his mother's estate. He made his will five years later, on 17 May 1858, naming his wife Cynthia as executrix and providing for his children to inherit when the youngest was 21. The will was witnessed by R. G. Baber and Henry Lamar, and recorded at Platte County, Missouri on 5 August 1858. Henry Lamar was Benjamin's next door neighbor at the 1850 census.

He, his wife and some of his children were buried in Roberson Cemetery, "Located on the old Roberson Farm, now owned by Oscar Webb (1980). This farm is one mile west of old 71 Highway and 1/4 mile south of H. Highway. His gravestone calls him Benjamin F. Roberson, and says he was born 3-1-1813 and died 6-17-1858 (Cemetery Records).
