"+In the record of baptisms of the First Church, Boston, the children are entered as 'of Joan (orJohanna) and Thomas Joy,' the name of the parent who was a church member being always written first. In the case of Benjamin alone the entry is 'of Thos. Joye's wife.' A Benjamin Joy, carpenter, wife was at Biddeford-Saco (MA) as early as 1736, his descendants are numerous about Ellsworth, MA."
