Benjamin Elery Low, son of Anthony Low and Mary "Polly" Baldwin, was b. in New York State on Feb. 15,1801. He married with REBECCA MORGAN, dau. of Hugh Morgan Sr. and Mercy Ayers. She was born July 8, 1801. They wed on Jan. 3, 1827 in Wayne County, Ohio. Benjmain settled in the eastern side of Granger Township on Lot number 21. Here he owned 103 acres which bordered on the present Granger and Medina Line Roads. He later added 20 more acres from Lot No. 20. to his holdings, a parcel just south of his 103 acres facing Medina Line Road. It was Benjamin that gave the land for the East Granger Church, cemetery and parsonage and contributed timbers from his wooded land for the buildings. Although he and Rebecca had no children of their own, after the death of his father in 1824, his mother and his minor siblings came to live with them. Then, in 1842, his brother William Grant Low and wife Temperance (sister to his wife Rebecca) both died and their four orphaned children---Rufus, Rebecca, Mercy and WIlliam Grant Jr--came to live with them.
After Rebecca Morgan Low died on Apr. 23, 1862, Benjamin remarried with NANCY M.SHIPMAN. She was much younger than he, and b. in Ohio in 1850. They had three children. When they both died within six months of each other (he on Nov. 15,1880 and she on June 9,1881), Hiram H. Mack, husband of Rebecca Low Mack (the eldest living child of William Grant Low; his brother) was appointed guardian of HIS three children; and, after Hiram's own death, Rebecca Low Mack was granted guardianship.
Benjamin and both wives buried at East Granger Cemetery, Granger, Medina County, Ohio.
Children were (by Nancy): Grant (1870-1944) and Ada (1874), and William Elery (1877-1959).
