In memory of Bernice Laks.

I’d like to tell you a little about aunt Bernice, who wasn’t really my aunt, she was my first cousin, twice removed.

I’d only met her twice, on trips to the US twelve years ago and two years ago, but I’ll never forget these encounters. A unique woman, Bernice was charming and amiable, generous and humble. She went above and beyond to make sure that my visits were enjoyable and interesting.

I am deeply saddened by her passing yesterday, and wish that I could be there, in the US, to be able to pay my final respects.
