About Calvin McCoy
Calvin was shot to death in the legendary Hatfield/McCoy "New Years Day Massacre" when the Hatfield clan retailiated against the McCoys. The two families had an ongoing feud for a quarter of a century over petty issues that evolved into murderous rage for both sides.
Calvin, Alifair, and other brothers, Randolph "Bud" McCoy, Jr., Pharmer, and Tolbert McCoy are all buried at the McCoy Family Cemetery located on a wooded hillside east of Highway 319, 300 yards from the old McCoy home in Blackberry Fork of Pond Creek in Pike County, Kentucky. For Calvin's grave is marked with a fieldstone. To view this stone and its engraving, go to the Media section.
