"Commissioned 8 Jan 1776 as 2nd Lieutenant, 3rd Pennsylvania Battalion,
Continental Army. Captured 16 Nov 1776 at Ft. Washington
(Manhattan). Exchanged 25 Oct. 1780. He retired from service, not
being able to get his rank. He was entitled to captaincy from 10 Apr
1778, according to Col. Cadwalader. He resided at Harrisburg for
many years after the war, removed to Milton, PA where he was practicing
medicine in 1814. Died at Danville, PA shortly thereafter."
