BIOGRAPHY: He started Hartford, Connecticut and then moved on to startthe community of Monson, Massachusetts. It appears Benjamin may have born in England, but there are others researching the Munn connection that think his kin originally came from Scotland.
Fron Northern New York Genealogy: Benjamin Munn, the immigrant ancestor, was a resident of Hartford, Conn. in 1639, and was a soldier in the Pequot war in 1637. He removed to Springfield, Mass., where he was living in 1649, and was a proprietor in 1651. In 1663 he was fined ten shillings "for taking tobacco on his hay cock." In 1665, "being very aged and weak," he was exempted from military service. He was probably killed by the Indians in Nov., 1675.
